From August 17 to 26, a local trade union in Changsha is providing free mobile health checkups to over 2,000 workers in new forms of employment— including delivery riders, couriers, truck drivers, and ride-hailing drivers. Each checkup covers more than 20 tests, such as ultrasound, chest X-ray, blood work, ECG, and cancer screening. Participants also receive a free care package with a power bank, insulated water bottle, cooling arm sleeves, and a Bluetooth helmet — all practical items for outdoor workers. Appointments and health records are managed through a mobile app.
For maintenance worker Su Yan, last year’s free checkup detected a lung infection early, likely saving his life. “This year, I feel much more at ease,” he said. The union has signed up over 30,000 workers in new forms of employment and built more than 40 rest stations across the district. A simple idea: take care of those who keep the city running.
