From November 29th to December 1st, the "2024 Mayors' Exchange Conference on the Influence of Maritime Silk Road Cities" was held, and Changsha was successfully selected as the 2024 Maritime Silk Road (China) Annual Influential City.
Changsha, a famous historical and cultural city, is an important node city along the "Belt and Road Initiative". Although it is located in the inland area, thanks to the Xiangjiang River, the largest river running through the north and south within China's territory, the city has become an important starting point and land transit station on the Maritime Silk Road. In the 1990s, the "Batu Hitam", a sunken ship of the Tang Dynasty, was salvaged near the route of the Maritime Silk Road. It was loaded with more than 56,000 pieces of porcelain produced by the Changsha Tongguan Kiln, witnessing Changsha's exploration of marine trade activities and cultural exchanges. As the birthplace of the world's underglaze multicolored ceramics, the porcelain of the Changsha Tongguan Kiln was sold far overseas. In 2019, the Changsha Tongguan Kiln was listed among the "Maritime Silk Road · Chinese Historical Sites".
